The digital SAT is two sections, each split into two modules, taken on a computer with a built-in calculator available for all of the maths. It is adaptive by module: how you do on the first module of a section decides whether the second is the easier or the harder version.

Scoring runs 400 to 1600: a 200–800 Reading and Writing score plus a 200–800 Math score. There is no penalty for a wrong answer, so an unanswered question is strictly worse than a guessed one — a habit worth building on a full-length practice exam rather than discovering on test day.
How to prepare, in order
Most study plans fail because they start with review instead of measurement. You cannot target a weakness you have not found, and broad review spends most of its time on material you already know.
1. Measure first
Sit the free ten-minute diagnostic if you want a fast read, or a full-length timed exam for a real baseline score. Both are scored instantly and broken down by topic.
2. Learn the method, not the answer
Work the SAT Math course or the individual lessons for the domains you lost points in. Each one teaches the approach the question is testing, then walks a worked example end to end.
3. Drill the exact weakness
The question bank is untimed, single-topic, and shows the explanation after every question — so a mistake is corrected while you still remember your reasoning.
4. Re-test, and check the number moved
Every few weeks, take a fresh full-length exam under real timing. Accuracy by topic and pacing against the allowance are both tracked, so you can see whether the work is paying off or whether the plan needs to change.

How long is the SAT?
Two hours and fourteen minutes of testing time: 64 minutes for Reading and Writing, then 70 minutes for Math, with a break between the two sections. That is the length of every full-length practice test on this site.
How many questions are on the SAT?
98 scored questions — 54 in Reading and Writing and 44 in Math. Each section is split into two modules, so you answer 27 Reading and Writing questions, then another 27, then 22 Math questions, then another 22.
How does the digital SAT's adaptive format work?
The test is adaptive by module, not by question. Your performance on the first module of a section determines whether the second module is the easier or the harder version, and which one you get affects the score band you can reach. This is why finishing the first module carefully matters more than rushing to the end of the section.
What is a good SAT score?
The SAT is scored from 400 to 1600, combining a 200–800 Reading and Writing score with a 200–800 Math score. Roughly 1050 is around the middle of all test takers, 1200 puts you comfortably above average, and 1400 and up is competitive at selective universities. The score that matters is the one your target colleges publish, so work back from their published ranges rather than a general benchmark.
How should I prepare for the SAT?
Take one full-length, timed practice test first — you cannot target weaknesses you have not measured. Then work the topics that cost you the most points using drills, and re-test every few weeks. How long does it take to improve an SAT score by 200 points?
For most students it is two to three months of consistent work, not a weekend. A 200-point gain usually comes from fixing a small number of recurring, identifiable mistakes rather than from broad review, which is why the review tools here are built around the questions you personally got wrong.
Should I take the SAT or the ACT?
Colleges accept both and do not prefer either. The SAT gives you more time per question; the ACT is faster and includes a Science section. The reliable way to choose is to sit one full-length practice test of each under real timing and see which one you score better on relative to the test's own scale.
